  • NASA Johnson Style (Gangnam Style Parody)

Today’s video is purely for entertainment. There is nothing  remotely associated with astronomy other than the students of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Quite enjoyable. NASA Johnson Style is a volunteer outreach video project created by the students of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. It was created as an educational parody of Psy’s Gangnam Style. The lyrics and scenes in the video have been re-imagined in order to inform the public about the amazing work going on at NASA and the Johnson […]

  • Have The Russians Found An Alien Weapon?

UFO Alien Weapon Found In Russia I have learned a few things while watching this video, for instance I did not know that there was a “valley of death” in Siberia. According to the presenter of this video, there is a hidden Alien weapon in this “valley of death”, and although a variety of expeditions have tried to locate this weapon, all have failed to produce “proof”. The author claims: I have videos of presidents, air force officers, generals & […]

  • Gravity Tour of the Moon

GRAIL(Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory). This video shows the variations in the lunar gravity field as measured by NASA’s  (GRAIL) during the primary mapping mission from March to May 2012. Very precise microwave measurements between two spacecraft, named Ebb and Flow, were used to map gravity with high precision and high spatial resolution. The field shown resolves blocks on the surface of about 12 miles (20 kilometers) and measurements are three to five times improved over previous data. Red corresponds […]

  • The green bean galaxy J2240

    The green bean galaxy J2240

A change of pace today with this very short video but quite interesting. As ESO continues to find new objects they have nicknamed it the green bean galaxies. A new class of galaxies has been identified through observations of galaxy J2240 in the Aquarius constellation (3.7 billion light years from Earth). Named for its color and found to be similar but larger than Green Pea galaxies. This zoom video starts with a wide view from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope that shows […]

  • Death Defying Comets

    Death Defying Comets

Death-Defying Comets Explore the Sun’s Atmosphere To observe wind movement high in Earth’s atmosphere, clouds of barium as tracers are released so that scientists can track how the material corkscrews and sweeps around. There is no such technique to study the turbulent atmosphere of the Sun. In December 2011, when Comet Lovejoy swept right through the sun’s corona with its long tail streaming behind it researchers were very excited . NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) captured images of the comet, showing […]
