Antimatter Created By Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes?

At any given time about 1800 thunderstorms are in progress somewhere on our planet. New research has proven that thunderstorms make antimatter. Beams of antimatter detected by Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope were produced by thunderstorms on Earth. Acting like enormous particle accelerators, the storms can emit gamma-ray flashes, called TGFs, and high-energy electrons and positrons. Scientists now think that most TGFs produce particle beams and antimatter.

I enjoyed this video very much as it gave me the chance to learn all about antimatter and how it is created. The Fermi satellite has proved to be a source of never ending discoveries.

Enjoy and share……..
