    IceBridge Prepares for Wheels Up

Here’s a small dose of how it feels to be part of NASA’s Operation IceBridge team during a typical Kangerlussuaq morning, from that frigid ride to the airfield to wheels up over gorgeous Greenlandic scenery. IceBridge is deep into its Arctic 2015 campaign, flying low over Greenland’s ice sheets, outlet glaciers, and Arctic sea ice. The airborne campaign flies over the Arctic and Antarctic every year measuring changes in the ice with instruments like radar and lasers. Enjoy and share…. […]

  • IceBridge Heads for the Coast

    IceBridge Heads for the Coast

Take a break from your day to soak in the sights and sounds of an Operation IceBridge flight over Greenland’s southwest coast. This video features both the rugged scenery of Greenland and the somewhat rugged interior of a NASA C-130, the aircraft serving as the aerial platform for this spring’s science campaign. IceBridge flies over the Arctic and Antarctic every year measuring changes in the ice with instruments like radar and lasers. This particular flight was designed to survey nearly […]

  • Hubble View of the Galaxy Cluster Abell 3827

Hubble View of the Galaxy Cluster Abell 3827

This video using images from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope shows the rich galaxy cluster Abell 3827. The strange blue structures surrounding the central galaxies are gravitationally lensed views of a much more distant galaxy behind the cluster. Observations of the central four merging galaxies have provided hints that the dark matter around one of the galaxies is not moving with the galaxy itself, possibly implying dark matter-dark matter interactions of an unknown nature are occurring. Enjoy and share….. Celestron […]

  • A Starry Snapshot for Hubble’s 25th

    A Starry Snapshot for Hubble’s 25th

We have become so used to Hubble and the spectacular shots we see that we tend to take it for granted. Here we have a short video celebrating Hubble. After a quarter of a century in space, Hubble has captured a dramatic new cosmic landscape to take centre stage as the 25th anniversary image. A new addition to Hubble’s iconic collection of stunning images of the Universe. The new image of star cluster Westerlund 2, taken by the NASA/ESA Hubble […]

  • ICESat-2

    ICESat-2

ICESat-2’s Instrument on the Move Once in orbit, the Ice, Cloud and land Elevation Satellite-2 will go from basking in the heat of the sun to freezing in Earth’s shadow every 90 minutes. And every second in that orbit, it will need to take thousands of precise measurements of the height of the surface below. So before launching the satellite into the harsh environment of space, engineers at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland want to make sure […]

  • 10 Strangest Planets In Space

    10 Strangest Planets In Space

It may seem farfetched, but you may learn something by watching this video. It is longer than usual, but please watch it. Here’s the top 10 strangest planets in the known universe, that seem like they belong in some bizarre science fiction series. Space is unbelievably strange. You would be forgiven for thinking that every planet out there is similar, just a big ball of rock and gas, but planets are remarkably more unique than that. Enjoy and share….. Celestron […]

  • Dark Matter a Minority in the Universe

Dark Matter a Minority in the Universe

It only took 100 years of study, but apparently the scientist community have finally reached a “realization”. After a century of study, scientists have come to the realization that the ordinary matter made of atoms is a minority in the universe. In order to explain observations, it appears that there exists a new and undiscovered kind of matter, called dark matter, that is five times more prevalent than ordinary matter. The evidence for this new matter’s existence is very strong, […]

SpaceX’s Rough Landing Isn’t A Total Failure Another failure, but apparently not as bad as the previous one. Getting better? SpaceX attempted to land another rocket after a space launch but didn’t achieve its goal of a perfect landing. Enjoy and share…. Celestron 31042 AstroMaster 114 EQ Reflector Telescope Price: $249.95
