  • UFO Sightings in Colorado

    UFO Sightings in Colorado

The latest sightings of UFO come from Colorado on Jan 29, 2013. Judy Messolin and her partner moved to Hooper, Colorado (Population of 105)to rise cattle. Little did they realize that their lives were going to change forever.Apparently the San Luis Valley is a hot spot for UFO sightings. Instead of rising cattle they ended up building a UFO watchtower. You have to watch this video because in a weird way Judy makes sense when she talks about UFO’s.How can you […]

  • Solar Dynamics Observatory-Year One

April 21, 2011. This date marks the first anniversary of the Solar Dynamics Observatory. To mark the day NASA released this short video. At a press conference this is what they had to say: In the last year, the sun has gone from its quietest period in years to the activity marking the beginning of solar cycle 24. SDO has captured every moment with a level of detail never-before possible. The mission has returned unprecedented images of solar flares, eruptions of […]

  • Robotic Refueling Mission

NASA’s aging satellites can get a new lease on life from a robotic machine making a service call. That is what RRM(Robotic Refueling Mission) promises for the future or, at least, the dream of such a system got dramatically closer after NASA’s robotic mission success. NASA had an idea, and in a series of extraordinary tests, decided to demonstrate that technologies for servicing satellites in space had evolved to levels of material value. Extending the lifespans of satellites already at work […]

  • Solar Dynamics Observatory

On this third anniversary,(Feb 11, 2013) NASA released the most spectacular video of the Sun to date. I loved every minute of it and hope that you share the some awe that I did. On Feb. 11, 2010, NASA launched an unprecedented solar observatory into space. The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) flew up on an Atlas V rocket, carrying instruments that scientists hoped would revolutionize observations of the sun. If all went according to plan, SDO would provide incredibly high-resolution […]

  • NEO-Targeted by OSIRIS-REx

    NEO-Targeted by OSIRIS-REx

Asteroid 1999 RQ36 On February 15-2013 Asteroid 2012 DA14 whizzed safely Past Earth. In an effort to better understand NEO’s(Near-Earth Objects) and our planet’s own origins, NASA is sending the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft to asteroid 1999 RQ36 to study the evolution of its orbit and to retrieve a sample for return to Earth. This particular NEO will pass close to Earth in 2018.NEO’s, cross our planet’s orbit on a regular basis, but only a handful are large enough to pose a threat. • Formation of Planets

    Formation of Planets

Formation of Planets in a Protoplanetary Disk This video shows an artist’s conception of newly formed stars. The artist conception shows a newly formed star surrounded by a swirling protoplanetary disk of dust and gas. Debris coalesces to create rocky ‘planetesimals’ that collide and grow to eventually form planets. The results of this study show that small planets form around stars with a wide range of heavy element content suggesting that their existence might be widespread in the galaxy. Credit: […]

  • Multiple Planets Orbiting Twin Suns

    Multiple Planets Orbiting Twin Suns

NASA’s Kepler Mission Discovers Multiple Planets Orbiting Twin Suns Kepler mission has discovered the first transiting circumbinary system, multiple planets orbiting two suns at 4,900 light-years from Earth, in the constellation Cygnus, proving that more than one planets can form and survive in orbit around a binary star. The inner planet, Kepler-47b, orbits the pair of stars in less than 50 days. It is thought to be a sweltering world, where the destruction of methane in its super-heated atmosphere might […]

  • Seagull Nebula

    Seagull Nebula

Panning across part of the Seagull Nebula This is a very short video to be enjoyed for its music and pictorial views. This video gives a close-up view of a new image from ESO’s La Silla Observatory showing part of a stellar nursery nicknamed the Seagull Nebula. This cloud of gas, known as Sh 2-292, RCW 2 and Gum 1, seems to form the head of the seagull and glows brightly due to the energetic radiation from a very hot […]

  • Images of a Comet!

    Images of a Comet!

A very brief video of a comet captured by NASA. This series of images of comet C/2012 S1 (ISON) were taken by the Medium-Resolution Imager of NASA’s Deep Impact spacecraft over a 36-hour period on Jan. 17 and 18, 2013. At the time, the spacecraft was 493 million miles (793 million kilometers) from the comet. Enjoy and share…. This is rather apt for this week of asteroids passing close to Earth and Russia’s meteor strike. Comets, Meteors, and Asteroids Old […]
